A separate hydrating step is optional. The formula centres on snail secretion filtrate, with betaine, sodium hyaluronate, allantoin and panthenol listed alongside it. Our ingredient pages class sodium hyaluronate and panthenol as humectants, which formulas use to leave skin feeling comfortable and hydrated. The texture is light. An essence usually goes on after cleansing and before moisturiser, but check the current label for the brand's own directions. This formula is not vegan because it contains a snail-derived ingredient.
